再入国許可とは

再入国許可とは、我が国に在留する外国人が一時的に出国し再び我が国に入国しようとする場合に、入国・上陸手続を簡略化するために出入国在留管理庁長官が出国に先立って与える許可です。

我が国に在留する外国人が再入国許可（みなし再入国許可を含みます。）を受けずに出国した場合には、その外国人が有していた在留資格及び在留期間は消滅してしまいますので、再び我が国に入国しようとする場合には、その入国に先立って新たに査証を取得した上で、上陸申請を行い上陸審査手続を経て上陸許可を受けることとなります。

これに対し、再入国許可（みなし再入国許可を含みます。）を受けた外国人は、再入国時の上陸申請に当たり、通常必要とされる査証が免除されます。

また、上陸後は従前の在留資格及び在留期間が継続しているものとみなされます。

再入国許可には、１回限り有効のものと有効期間内であれば何回も使用できる数次有効のものの２種類があり、その有効期間は、現に有する在留期間の範囲内で、５年間（特別永住者の方は６年間）を最長として決定されます。

再入国許可を希望する外国人が、有効な旅券を所持していない場合であって、国籍を有していないため又はその他の事由で旅券を取得することができない場合は、再入国許可書の交付を受けることができます。

A re-entry permit is a permit granted by the Commissioner of the Immigration Services Agency prior to departure from Japan to foreign nationals residing in Japan who temporarily leave the country and intend to re-enter Japan, in order to simplify the entry and landing procedures.
If a foreign national residing in Japan leaves the country without obtaining a re-entry permit (including deemed re-entry permits), their residence status and period of stay will be forfeited. Therefore, if they wish to re-enter Japan, they must obtain a new visa prior to entry, apply for landing permission, and undergo landing examination procedures to receive permission to land.
In contrast, foreign nationals who have received a re-entry permit (including deemed re-entry permits) are exempt from the visa normally required when applying for landing upon re-entry.
Furthermore, upon landing, your previous residence status and period of stay will be considered to continue.
There are two types of re-entry permits: one that is valid for one entry only, and a multiple-entry permit that can be used multiple times within its validity period. The validity period is determined within the scope of your current period of stay, with a maximum of five years (six years for special permanent residents).
If a foreign national who wishes to re-enter Japan does not possess a valid passport and is unable to obtain one due to not having a nationality or for other reasons, they may be issued a re-entry permit.
